waynesboro public libraryThe Waynesboro Public Library will host Stories with a Twist with storyteller Barb Lawson at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 13.  This free program for all ages will feature stories and songs from all over the world.

Children’s librarian Jamie Kollar says, “We scheduled Stories with a Twist on an early release day for Waynesboro Public Schools when both children and their parents are looking for something fun to do—and Barb Lawson is always a crowd favorite!”

A former teacher, Lawson is an author of children’s books and an award-winning storyteller who travels across the state as a Performing Artist with the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Her interactive programs encourage children to think, feel, see things from a new point of view, interpret new vocabulary words, and visualize characters, settings and plot.

Kollar says, “Listening to seemingly silly stories and songs is not only fun, it also allows children to explore language and literacy.”

The fun for children will continue after Lawson’s performance with board games in the children’s area at 3 p.m. The library will provide a variety of board games for different ages and skill levels for children and their families to enjoy.

The Waynesboro Public Library is located at 600 S. Wayne Ave. in Waynesboro. For more information, call 540-942-6746 or go to www.WaynesboroPublicLibrary.org.
