The news this week that the Augusta County Board of Supervisors has decided to continue to engage Staunton in talks about the future of the Augusta County Courthouse included a curious sidebar: a desire to engage Waynesboro in the talks.
What interest Waynesboro would have in the discussion is beyond what seems reasonable at first glance.
Waynesboro spent millions renovating its courthouse a decade ago, and it wouldn’t seem to make any sense to move court business 30 minutes across the county to Downtown Staunton.
There are a number of ways the three local governments can cooperate, coordinate, et cetera, but this doesn’t fit the bill.
