The Wayne Theatre Alliance will join forces with the Heifetz International Institute to present a concert by Heifetz on Tour musicians at the Main Street United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 13.  The 7:00 pm performance will be in the church’s sanctuary at 601 West Main in downtown Waynesboro.  The concert will feature Madison Vest and Zachary Mowitz and Carlos Avila.

Violinist Madison Vest is a 19-year-old Charlottesville native who attends the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles.  Zach Mowitz is a 17 year-old cellist who is currently a student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.  The two are representatives of the exceptional talent that is part of the Heifetz Institute’s renowned training program held each summer on the campus of mary baldwin college.

Joining the two young performers will be Carlos Avila who served as the faculty keyboard artist at the 2014 Heifetz Institute.  Avila has been praised for his “beautiful tone and mood. . . and unruffleable savoir-faire” by the San Francisco Chronicle.  Other critics have noted his “layers of emotional expression” and his “level of artistry that seem far beyond his years.”  Avila’s skills and artistry have resulted in concerts across North and South America, europe and Asia. Among his many performances are engagements with the Chicago Symphony and the New York Philharmonic.  He is reported to be one of the most in-demand pianists on the classical music scene today.

The concert is free, but donations are appreciated and welcomed.  Contributions will be split between the Wayne Theatre Alliance and the Heifetz Institute Scholarship Campaign.
