Wayne Hills Center needs more time before opening

Waynesboro Public Schools Superintendent Robin Crowder said today that the school system will need to postpone the planned opening of the Wayne Hills Center until Aug. 22.

The Wayne Hills Center will house operations for the city’s pre-K and Phoenix programs.

The Center had been scheduled to begin operation with the rest of the schools in the school system on Aug. 17.

The three day delay will provide the contractor and custodians additional time needed to complete additional work, a thorough cleaning of the building, and finalize all necessary inspections, Crowder said.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our families, but we believe this three-day delay will give us the time necessary to ensure a positive new school year experience for our students and families,” Crowder said.
