Staunton: Water tank maintenance might affect service

Contributors

staunton virginiaThe Betsy Bell water tank in Staunton will be out of service for approximately one month for routine tank maintenance. During this time, between Aug. 1-31, water pressure in the surrounding area could be affected.

Residences on the following streets might experience lower water pressure:

  • Amherst Road
  • Betsy Bell Road
  • Campbell Street
  • Community Way – Big Sky Apartments only
  • Driscoll Street
  • Ellen Street
  • Frontier Ridge Court
  • Mary Gray Lane
  • Oak View Drive
  • Pocahontas Street
  • Powhatan Street
  • Ramsey Street
  • Sharon Lane

The City will keep a pump in service at all times on Amherst Street to maintain water pressure to the affected residences; however, at times, some residents in these areas may notice lower than normal pressure.

Additionally, to relieve possible excess pressure, the City will place a pressure release valve on two hydrants in the area serviced by the Betsy Bell water tank; one in front of Big Sky Apartments on Community Way and another on Oak View Drive. As a result, these hydrants may occasionally expel water.
