Washington Nationals snap six-game losing streak, top Colorado, 15-6

nationals_logoWashington rocked Colorado for 15 hits in a 15-6 blowout of the Rockies on Tuesday night, snapping a six-game losing streak.

Danny Espinosa, Yunel Escobar and Ian Desmond each had three hits for the Nats (59-59), who remain four and a half games back of the New York Mets in the National League East.

Escobar homered in the first, his ninth of the season.

Bryce Harper was 0-for-2 at the plate, but walked four times and scored four runs. Escobar was 3-for-4 with four RBI and four runs scored.

Desmond was 3-for-6 with four RBI.

Jayson Werth was 2-for-5 with a walk and three runs scored batting leadoff in a lineup change from manager Matt Williams to try to change the Nats’ mojo.

Jordan Zimmerman (9-8, 3.44 ERA) got the win in a rough outing, giving up six runs, four earned, on nine hits in six innings, striking out six and walking one.
