Wagner announces Republicans and Independents for Wagner committee

At an event Tuesday morning in Virginia Beach, Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor Jody Wagner announced the “Republicans and Independents for Wagner” steering committee. The committee, comprised of twenty-one Republicans and Independents from throughout the Commonwealth, is led by Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms, Fredericksburg Mayor Tom Tomzak, Blacksburg Mayor Ron Rordam, former State Sen. John Chichester, former State Sen. H. Russell “Russ” Potts, and former Dels. Robert Bloxom of Accomack, L. Preston Bryant Jr. of Lynchburg and Katherine Waddell of Richmond.

Wagner’s broad bipartisan support underscores her ability to work on both sides of the aisle to produce real solutions for Virginia’s families.

At the event this morning, Republican Mayor Will Sessoms of Virginia Beach said, “I’m supporting Jody Wagner because I’ve seen the work she’s done over the past decade-as a mother, a small business owner, and a public official dedicated to helping businesses grow and prosper in the Commonwealth. From the bipartisan budget in 2004 to the landmark Higher Education Bond Package last year, Jody has established herself as someone who puts people over politics, and is willing to work honestly with Democrats and Republicans to reach commonsense, bipartisan solutions. In difficult times like these, Jody Wagner is the kind of Lieutenant Governor Virginia needs.”
