Volunteer Appreciation at Timberville Broadway Senior Center

vol app cropped and resizedThe rain couldn’t stop us from celebrating our volunteers today at the Timberville Broadway Senior Center.

It was a wonderful luncheon dedicated to thanking our many volunteers for the time they have given to us. There was a great turn out, with a total of fifty people in attendance. The luncheon was centered on the theme, “Heart of a Volunteer,” which highlighted the volunteers’ compassion, dedication, and importance to the success of this center.

There were three brief presentations about Valley Program for Aging Services. One of which included Beth Bland, Regional Director of VPAS. Beth provided a synopsis of the number of meals delivered and the total volunteer hours, which hit home just how much our volunteers mean to us. Joyce Nussbaum also presented on the Chronic Disease Self-Management Education class offered through VPAS, and the value of spreading the word of this free service. Our last speaker was Kathryn Coit, who spoke about the SNAP program and ways to access these services. Overall, it was a great morning with great people, and many thanks of appreciation were exchanged.

We would also like to thank Alan Shelton of Cargill for donating meat and cheese and to Aramark for donating the Vegetable Soup for the luncheon. Thanks to Advisory Council members David Burrough, Donna Brown and Alan Shelton for helping to serving the meal! And finally a very special thanks to the tbsc members and staff that helped with the set up and clean up!
