vmi baseballVMI baseball will return to action Tuesday, when the Keydets play host to the Longwood Lancers at Gray-Minor Stadium. First pitch is set for 5 p.m., in a time change from the originally scheduled 6 p.m. time. VMI then takes on VCU at The Diamond in Richmond the following night, a first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.

How to Follow

Fans can follow along with both games via live stats. In addition, the Tuesday game will be shown live – with participating provider – on ESPN3, with Wade Branner on play-by-play and Chris Graham on color commentary.

The Wednesday game can be seen for a small fee on the Atlantic 10 Network. All links are contained within this article.

Probable Starting Pitchers

None of the three teams have announced a starting pitcher.

Leadoff Hitters

Outfielder Matt Pita stole six bases in April 3’s win at Longwood, setting a new school record. Pita also became just the second player in Division I to accomplish that feat this season.

Speaking of steals, the Keydets rank sixth in Division I in that category and are the only team in D1 with two players in the top-10 individually, Nathan Eaton (2nd) and Matt Pita (T-4th).

Outfielder Will Malbon was among the top individual performers in the nation Friday when he posted his first career multi-homer game at ETSU, blasting two long balls – including a grand slam – and driving in five runs.

The Keydets are looking to sweep the season series from Longwood for the second straight year, and will be looking to break a five-game skid against VCU the following night.

Next Time Out

Following this series, VMI opens a three-game set at home Friday against Western Carolina. First pitch that evening is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Game notes will be posted late Monday afternoon.
