VMI athletics director Dave Diles on Air Force Academy job

vmi_logo2VMI Athletics Director Dr. Dave Diles issued the following statement on Sunday regarding recent reports that listed him as a candidate in the Air Force Academy AD search.

“While I have the deepest respect for the United States Air Force Academy, and I am honored to have received an invitation to discuss their Athletics Director position, earlier this week I informed them that I would not be accepting the offer of an interview.  I have had close professional connections to several members of the Air Force staff, and it’s understandable that my name would surface.  However, I am looking forward to continuing our work at VMI and advancing the vision for our department.  We have made substantial progress and we will continue our collective efforts.”
