newspaperVirginia Safari Park is hosting its 15th annual “Coats for Kids” charity drive event on Black Friday, November 25.

The Safari Park donates the proceeds of the day to purchase new winter coats for children in need in the Rockbridge County area.

Virginia Safari Park only provides brand new, well-designed winter coats to children within the county’s four local elementary schools including Central, Natural Bridge, Fairfield and Mountain View Elementary schools.

“A warm coat is a daily essential here for all children. Our coat drive is about keeping every child warm, healthy and able to play outside during the winter months.” said Kelly Vigo, Guest Services Manager. “Black Friday at the Safari Park is just a fun way to give back to the community and support a good cause. Visiting the Safari Park on Black Friday helps give the gift of warmth to local children in need.”

Over the collective 14 years running, “Coats for Kids” has delivered over 2,000 coats and continues to have a strong cumulative impact on the local community.

Virginia Safari Park is a 180 acre drive-thru adventure, with over 1,000 animals from around the world. The Park is open daily from Mid-March until late November, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Conveniently located just off I-81, exit 180/180B, admission tickets are $19.95 for adults, $12.95 for children. Resident, military, senior and group rate specials are available.
