Virginia farmers, forest owners can explore export opportunities

farm-droughtVirginia agriculture and forestry businesses have three opportunities to meet with international trade representatives from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in June. The representatives will hold one-on-one meetings with producers to discuss international sales opportunities.

Meetings will be held June 22 in Richmond, June 24 in Blacksburg and June 25 in Winchester.

The VDACS Office of International Marketing promotes Virginia agricultural commodities, wood products, seafood and specialty food and beverage items through trade offices and representatives in Canada, Central America, China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Its representatives can help producers assess market potential, understand international regulations, identify buyers and learn about product-specific programs and marketing events.

To register for a meeting or request more information, contact Caitlin Clark in the Office of International Marketing at 540-461-1246 or [email protected].gov.

The value of agricultural and forestry products shipped from Virginia reached an all-time high of more than $3.35 billion in 2014.
