VDOT road-work schedule

The following is a list of highway work that might affect traffic in the Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks.

The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties, Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies.

Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. Also, when traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY

Interstate 64

* Mile marker 57 to 41, eastbound and westbound – Debris removal, post replacement, clean ditches and storm drains. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Interstate 81

* Mile marker 173 to 205, northbound and southbound – Debris removal, post replacement, shoulder repair, fence repair, clean ditches and storm drains. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

* (UPDATE) Mile marker 195.6 to 202.5, northbound – Truck climbing lane project. Right lane closed to move barrier from mile marker 200 to 201, Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Right lane closed for striping from mile marker 195 to 200.6, Wednesday night to Thursday morning, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

 

Primary Roads

* Various roads – Litter pickup, pipe cleaning and brush cutting. Flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Secondary Roads

* Route 612 (Blue Grass Trail Road) – Bridge work from Route 677 (Kygers Hill Road) to Route 251 (Collierstown Road) in the Horseshoe Bend area. Road closed, Apr. 23 to May 10. Two bridges that cross a tributary to Buffalo Creek will be replaced on Route 612. The first bridge is located from 0.80-mile north of Route 251 to 0.15-mile southeast of Route 677. The second bridge is located from 0.50-mile north of Route 251 to 0.40-mile southeast of Route 677.

* (NEW) Route 716 – Structural steel erection. Road closed May 1 to 4, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

* Various roads – Litter pickup, ditching, pipe replacement and cleaning, brush cutting, grading and pothole repairs. Flagger traffic control. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

 

HIGHLAND COUNTY

Primary Roads

* Route 250 – Replacement of bridge over Crab Run in McDowell, from 0.01 mile east of Route 645 to 0.014 miles west of Route 654 (Doe Hill Road). Single-lane traffic with 14-foot width restriction and three-way traffic signal at Route 250 and intersection of Route 654. Flagger traffic control at various locations when needed. Work may take place 24 hours-a-day. Speed limit reduced to 25 mph. Estimated completion is October 2012.

 

Secondary Roads

* (NEW) Route 615 (David Run Road) – Rural rustic project. Flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

* Route 617 (Seldom Seen Road) – Ditching. Flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

* (NEW) Route 619 (Botkin Hollow Road) – Rural rustic project. Flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

 

AUGUSTA COUNTY

Interstate 64

No lane closures reported.

 

Interstate 81

* Mile marker 205.1 to 237, northbound and southbound – Debris removal, post replacement, shoulder repair, turf repair, clean ditches and storm drains. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Primary Roads

* (NEW) Route 42 (Parkersburg Turnpike) – Slope and shoulder repair, 2.37 miles south of Route 688 (Old Parkersburg Turnpike). Single-lane traffic, Apr. 23 to May 4. Flagger traffic control.

* Route 42 – Utility tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.

* Route 250 (Jefferson Highway) – Signal work at intersection of Old White Bridge Road. Lane closures as necessary from Goose Creek Road to Old White Bridge Road, Monday to Friday.

* (NEW) Route 256, northbound and southbound – Paving, line painting and shoulder stone placement from Weyers Cave town limits to the Augusta/Rockingham County line. Periodic lane closures, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Flagger traffic control.

* (NEW) Route 276 – Paving from Weyers Cave town limits to Rockingham County line. Single-lane traffic, Apr. 23, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

* Route 340 – Delphine Avenue Project. All traffic has been shifted to the east side of Delphine Avenue. Waterline installation from Route 340 to Route 250. Pavement demolition, curb and gutter removal on west side of Delphine Avenue. Sewer work to close 4th Street with a detour posted. Flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

* Various roads – Pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Secondary Roads

* Route 640 (Goose Creek Road) – Retaining wall construction to include pavement demolition, grading, storm sewer installation and stone base installation. Single-lane traffic controlled by flaggers, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Estimated completion is May 1.

* Route 646 (Fadley Road) – Bridge widening from 0.63 mile of Route 749 (Choushron Lane) to 0.08 mile of Route 11. Shoulder closed, Apr. 23 to 26.

* (NEW) Route 688 (Old Parkersburg Turnpike) – Slope repair from Route 42 to Route 629 (Deerfield Road). Road blocked for long periods. Flagger traffic control, Apr. 23 to 27, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

* Various roads – Utility tree trimming. Flagger traffic control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.

* Various roads – Pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

 

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY

Interstate 81

* Mile marker 237.51 to 263.9, northbound and southbound – Debris removal, fence repair, ditch cleaning and cable guardrail inspection. Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

Primary Roads

* (NEW) Route 33 – Road bore, pipe installation and slope work from 0.185 mile west of Route 734 (Lumber Mill Road). Single-lane traffic, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Flagger traffic control.

* Route 33 – Utility work from Route 276 (Cross Keys Road) to Route 704 (Boyers Road). Intermittent lane closures. Estimated completion is June 30.

* Route 340 – Shoulder closure from Route 649 (Island Ford Road) to Route 642 (Captain Yancey Road) for railroad crossing repairs. Estimated completion is April 30. Speed limit reduced to 45 mph.

* Various roads – Pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Secondary Roads

* Stone Spring Road – Erickson Avenue/Stone Spring Road Connector Project from Route 11 to Port Republic Road. Lane and shoulder closures, daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Estimated completion is spring 2013.

* Route 609 (Naked Creek Road) – Naked Creek Bridge Project. Replacement work at the intersection of Route 603 (Fleeburg Road) and Route 609. Periodic temporary lane closures, daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Estimated completion is April 2013.

* Route 726 (Erickson Avenue) – Waterline installation from Route 33 (Rawley Pike) to Harrisonburg City limits. Intermittent lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

* Route 727 (Airport Road) – Bridge from Route 11 (Lee Highway) to Route 696 (Kisers Road). Road closed until further notice.

* Route 734 (Lumber Mill Road) – Road bore, new pipe installation and riprap for slope protection 0.185 mile west of Route 734 in the Dale Enterprise area. Single-lane traffic controlled by flaggers, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Estimated completion is May 4.

* Various roads – Pipe installation, patching, brush cutting, shoulder repairs, ditching and grading. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
