VDOT reaching out to small business owners

Contributors

vdot logoThe Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton District is hosting a series of small business fairs in April and May to show local vendors how they can work with VDOT and other state agencies. The Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to making at least 42 percent of its discretionary purchases with small, women-owned and minority-owned (SWaM) businesses. Over the past several years, these vendors have benefited from more than $5 billion in annual purchases.

The open-house workshops are designed to show the benefits of becoming a certified Small or Micro Business in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Attendees can learn how to market their products and services to state agencies, and get assistance with required registration and certification procedures.

The small-business fairs take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Tuesday, April 14 – VDOT Lexington Residency Office, 275 Alphin Lane, Lexington, Va. 24450
  • Thursday, April 30 – VDOT Staunton District Complex, 811 Commerce Road, Staunton, Va. 24401
  • Tuesday, May 12 – VDOT Harrisonburg Residency Office, 3536 North Valley Pike, Harrisonburg, Va.  22802
  • Wednesday, May 27 – VDOT Winchester Area Headquarters, 2275 Northwestern Pike, Winchester, Va.  22603

Business owners can get more information about the fairs, including documentation they will need, by contacting VDOT District Procurement Manager Pam Sprouse at 540-332-9206 or[email protected].
