road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Paving operations on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 665 from Route 601 to Route 664
  • Route 671 from Route 609 to Route 668
  • Route 609 from Route 671 to Route 665
  • Route 875 from Route 631 to Route 780
  • Route 781 from Route 875 to Route 1270
  • Route 859 from Route 859 to Route 1106
  • Route 1270 from Route 1283 to Route 781
  • Route 601 from Route 250 off-ramp to Route 654

Route 711 (Burton Road) – Roadside ditching. Motorists should be alert and slow down for mobile work zones; brief delays possible.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Pipe replacement at intersection of Route 1571 (Lewis & Clark Drive). Right-turn lane from Rt. 1571 to southbound Rt. 29 closed to traffic. Motorists should obey traffic controls.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Routes 250, 631, 637, 780, 781, 875, 877, 1105, 1112, 1115, 1117, 1140 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 688 (Midway Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Motorists should be alert for construction equipment and workers as they approach the work zone; expect brief delays.

Route 627d (Warren Ferry Road) – Pipe replacements. Motorists should follow directional signs and traffic controls as they drive through the work area.

Route 747 (Preddy Creek Road) – Pipe replacement. On Monday and Tuesday, road closed to through traffic between 3297 and 3337; on Wednesday and Thursday closed between 3137 and 3297. Access will be maintained to private entrances; detours posted for through traffic.

Routes 637, 782 – Debris removal. Motorists should use be alert for slow-moving vehicles and highway workers on the road shoulders.

Routes 708, 787 – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should follow directional signs and traffic controls as they drive through the work area.

Route 708 (Dry Bridge Road) – Bridge replacement. Road closed with traffic detoured via Route 787 (Gillums Ridge Road). Anticipated completion September 2014.

Routes 712, 722 – Machining and grading gravel road. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 792 (Presidents Road) – Pipe replacement near 3815 Presidents Road. Work will take place Tuesday between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Flagging will occur during work hours.

 

Culpeper County

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Milling and paving from just north of Route 663 (Stevensburg Road) to the Fauquier County line. Flagging will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should use caution and expect brief delays.

Routes 3, 15 – Bridge deck washing on various structures SundayThursday overnight, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Routes 15, 29, 211, 229, 522 – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Routes 15, 229, 522, 608, 655, 719, 9537 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 621, 629 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 522, 662 – Shoulder repair and roadside ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 681 (Jacobs Ford Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 751 (Dragoon Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Town of Culpeper

Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway) – Construction of roundabout at Route 229 (Main Street). A new traffic pattern is in effect using a temporary signal.

The northbound and southbound lanes will be limited to one lane of traffic within 1,000 feet of the intersection between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

Route 229 (Main Street) – Construction of roundabout at Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway). A new traffic pattern is in effect.

Lane closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. MondayThursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30

p.m. Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 westbound – Underdrain work from the Route 17 (Winchester Road) bridge to 0.9 mile west of the Route 245 ramp. Alternating lane closures will occur nightly from 9 p.m. to noon. Be alert for changes to the traffic pattern and expect brief delays.

Interstate 66 westbound – Underdrain work from mile marker 34.1 to the Route 55 (E. Main Street) bridge and from the Route 17 (Winchester Road) bridge to the Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) ramp. Alternating lane closures will occur nightly from 9 p.m. to noon. Be alert for changes to the traffic pattern and expect brief delays.

Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Milling from Culpeper County line to Warrenton town limits. Work will occur overnight utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Routes 15, 17 – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Route 17 (Marsh Road) – Bridge deck washing on the structure over Route 805 (Bealeton Road) Wednesday overnight, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Route 17 (James Madison Highway) – Deck patching on the structure over Interstate 66; Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Alternating lane closures will traffic controlled through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Routes 17, 55, 610, 615, 617, 628, 634, 637, 643, 674, 681, 690, 691, 695, 732, 733, 737, 752, 772, 900  – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 654, 748, 763 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 626, 628, 635, 651, 735, 806, 837 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Contractor making preparations for the upcoming closure of Rt. 651, including installation of detour signs and minor roadway improvements along detour route. Intermittent flagging will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Bridge closure postponed until Monday, Aug. 18.

Routes 676, 690, F-185 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 674, 737, 739, 761, 779, 780 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Routes 15, 600, 616, 647 – Mowing, roadside trimming and tree removal. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment, educe speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Greene County

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Paving operations on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 609 from Route 29 to the Orange County line
  • Route 657 from the Orange County line to Route 610
  • Route 618 from Route 610 to the Orange County line
  • Route 645 from Route 33 to Route 29
  • Route 1125 from Route 616 to end of state maintenance
  • Route 1126 from end of state maintenance to Route 1125
  • Route 678 from Route 616 to end of state maintenance

Routes 607, 609, 629 – Roadside ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 33/810, 626/810 – Mowing at intersections. Motorists should be alert for lane restrictions and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 609 (Fredericksburg Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 626 (Snow Mountain Road) – Machining, grading and application of dust control on gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 634 (Bull Yearling Road) – Pipe replacement. Work will take place Wednesday between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Flagging will occur during work hours.

Route 647 (McMullen Mill Road) – Bridge work approximately 0.1 mile west of Route 637 (South River Road). Road closed 9 a.m. Monday until 9 p.m. the next day, with no vehicular access past bridge. Shuttle service available to residents by calling (276) 591-7567.

 

Louisa County

Interstate 64 at Exit 136 (Zion Crossroads) – Alternating overnight lane closures from bridge painting. Motorists should reduce speed as they approach the work zone and follow traffic directions.

  • 7 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday: Alternating eastbound lane closures
  • 7 p.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday: Alternating eastbound lane closures
  • 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday: Alternating westbound lane closures
  • 7 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday: Alternating westbound lane closures
  • 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday: Alternating westbound lane closures
  • 7 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday: Alternating eastbound lane closures
  • 7 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday: Alternating eastbound lane closures

Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – Line painting and shoulder stone application. Flagging will occur MondayFriday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.

Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Shoulder repairs. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working along the shoulders and in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 522 (Cross Country Road) – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 633, 709 – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing projects. Motorists should be alert for construction equipment and workers as they approach the work zone; expect brief delays.

 

Madison County

Routes 231, 609, 614 – Shoulder repairs and roadside ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 613 (Kinderhook Road) – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 680 (Gate Road) – Machining and grading gravel road. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

 

Orange County

Routes 15, 20, 231, 655, 719 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 609, 627, 647, 738 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and roadside ditches. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 609 (Scuffletown Road) – Paving from the Greene County line to Route 644 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists should be prepared to stop when they approach the work zone. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks; expect brief delays.

Routes 626, 700 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

 

Rappahannock County

Routes 600, 608, 609, 612, 614, 618, 621, 623, 626, 658, 671 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 615 (Castleton Ford Road) – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 626 (Tiger Valley Road) – Replacement of bridge over the Rush River. Road closed Aug. 7 through Sept. 18.Motorists should use the posted detour route: Route 211 (Lee Highway) to Route 622 (Rock Mills Road) to Route 621 (Hunters Road) and back to Route 626.
