VCU rallies from 18-point deficit, tops LaSalle, 69-63

vcu men's basketballVCU overcame an 18-point first half deficit and held La Salle to 28 percent shooting in the second half Wednesday on the way to a 69-63 victory.

Sophomore forward Marcus Santos-Silva had 13 points and six rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting for the Rams, who got a team-high 15 points from De’Riante Jenkins.

Redshirt junior guard Marcus Evans had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

VCU’s offense started slow, shooting just 13-of-33, but then went 10-of-16 to cut the deficit to just 44-43 with 14:05 left in the second half.

The Rams then trailed 48-43 before going on an 15-3 run to take their first lead of the game and led 58-51 with 4:43 remaining
