Valley’s Exxon Offers Christmas Cheer at ERSC

Employees of Valley’s Exxon (McGaheysville and Elkton) offered a total of $1,301.05 in the form of personal gifts, gift cards, fruit baskets and a cash donation to the East Rockingham Senior Center on December 10. The gifts, gift cards and fruit baskets will be delivered to Meals on Wheels clients, and a $200 donation was presented to the East Rockingham Senior Center.

This extremely generous act of kindness was spearheaded by Valley’s Exxon Manager, Della Phillips, and her employees including: Kenny, Natasha, Brandie, Debbie, Claude, Shannon, Renee, Leah, Lynn, Cassandra, Vannesa, Brandon, Hunter, Selena, T.T., and Emily, and was supported by Valley Exxon/Cline Energy President Mike Davis, who matched the monies the employees raised through a bake sale held in late October at the McGaheysville location. Employees also set out collection jars at the two locations and sold country ham sandwiches to raise the funds.

The employees learned about Valley Program for Aging Services through former Harrisonburg/Rockingham Regional Director Cathie Galvin, who had visited the McGaheysville location to purchase gasoline gift cards for VPAS volunteer drivers. As manager Della Phillips explained, “We have previously provided gifts for children and for individuals in local nursing homes, but we felt that it would be great to remember senior citizens who may not be able to get out of their homes.”

This act of kindness was very much appreciated and the hard work of Mrs. Phillips and Valley’s Exxon employees will be forever remembered.
