Valley VITA is seeking Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteers for the 2015 tax season (February through April 2016).
All volunteers complete a fully certified IRS training and serve in an environment of support with other trained volunteers. Volunteers should be above the age of 18 and have a desire to work with their friends and neighbors to create a richer, more financially secure community. No prior tax preparation or technical experience is required. We are currently seeking volunteers for all tax site locations, including United Way of Greater Augusta, Stuart’s Draft High School, and Booker T. Washington Community Center. Training for volunteers is scheduled to begin in December.
Of the volunteering experience, Anna Leavitt, CAPSAW says, “Valley VITA is an opportunity for volunteers to really see firsthand the good they do in their neighborhood as well as a chance to gain a skill they can use for the rest of their lives.” Valley VITA volunteers have helped over 500 community members file returns resulting in over $600,000 in federal and state refunds saving clients over $90,000 in fees since 2011. Valley VITA volunteers see firsthand the value of their time and service.
