Staff Report
The following is a list of highway work projects that might affect traffic in the Staunton Transportation District during the coming weeks. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. Also, when traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.
Augusta County
I-64

I-81
* Mile marker 213 southbound – Pavement work, right lane and shoulder closures, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., Thursday.
* (NEW) Mile marker 222 to 228, southbound – Guardrail replacement and raised snowplowable marker installation, Monday to Thursday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Various locations – Sign repair. Shoulder closures, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Primary Roads
* (NEW) Route 11 – Paved ditch repair from Route 647 to Staunton City limits, Oct. 29-30. Motorists are advised to use caution with changed traffic pattern.
* Route 11 Park and Ride, Mint Springs area – Litter and debris pick-up.
* Route 11 – Litter pickup on Wednesday in the Fishersville area.
* Route 11 (Lee Jackson Highway) – Sanitary sewer work from Route 694 to Route 701. Shoulder closure southbound Route 11. Work is 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
* Route 250 (Jefferson Highway) – Entrance construction off of westbound lanes from Route 1334 to Route 822. Work is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
* Route 254 – Spot leveling at Route 820, Oct. 27. Traffic control.
* Route 262 – Debris and litter pickup from I-81 to Route 11, Wednesday
* Route 340 (Stuarts Draft Highway) – Entrance construction from Route 1512 to Route 649, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
* Route 340 (East Side Highway) – Left-turn lane construction, southbound from Route 672 to Route 1340. Be alert for alternating lane closures. Work is Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During paving work is 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
* Route 340, Waynesboro – Construction from Broad Street to Sixth Street for railroad bridge replacement and roadway widening. Estimated completion is November, 2011.
* Route 340 – Litter pickup on Wednesday in the Fishersville area.
* Route 340 Park and Ride, Waynesboro – Litter pick-up.
* Various roads – Mowing and grass clean up from ditches, debris cleanup, brush trimming near signs and shoulder repair.

* Route 612 Park and Ride, Verona – Litter pick up.
* Route 612 – Litter pickup on Wednesday in the Fishersville area.
* (NEW) Route 612 – Mowing from Route 11 to Route 340, Oct. 27 to 31. Traffic control.
* Route 616 – Shoulder work, Route 11 to Route 732, Oct. 27 to 31. Traffic control.
* (NEW) Route 616 – Bridge over I-81, .14 mile east of Route 924. Bridge deck maintenance, possible single lane closure, flagger traffic control.
* Route 701 (Howardsville Road) – Sewer line work from Route 11 to Route 613. Shoulder closure off of westbound lane. Work is 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
* Route 742 – Shoulder work, Route 612 to Route 613, Oct. 27 to 31. Traffic control.
* (NEW) Route 742 – Bridge over I-81, .25 mile east of Route 11. Bridge deck maintenance, possible single lane closure, flagger traffic control.

* (NEW) Route 838 – Brush cutting from Route 42 to Route 728, Monday to Friday. Flagger traffic control.
* (NEW) Route 994 – Bridge over I-81, .27 mile west of Route 11. Bridge deck maintenance, possible single lane closure, flagger traffic control.
* Route 1407 – Clean ditches.
* Various roads – Machining dirt roads, trimming around signs.

* Route 33 (Rawley Pike) – Entrance construction from Route 701 (Silver Lake Road) to Route 733 (Dale Enterprise Road). Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) – Entrance construction. Work is from Route 33 (Old Route 33/Business) to Harnsberger Street. Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* (NEW) Route 33 Business (Spotswood Avenue) – Halloween Festival. Road closed from Route 1706 (Shenandoah Avenue) to Route 340 (East Side Highway). Law enforcement traffic control. Oct. 31, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
* Route 42 (Main Street, Town of Broadway) – Halloweenfest, road closed from Route 259 (Lee Street) to Route 259 Alt. (Broadway Avenue). Law enforcement traffic control, October 31, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
* Route 42 (Main Street), Bridgewater – Roadway reconstruction including relocation of utilities and water lines at the intersection of Route 42 and Route 1310 (Mt. Crawford Avenue). Lane closures with flagging and traffic delays possible. Work Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 253 (Port Republic Road) – Sewer line installation from Route 704 (Osceola Springs Road) to Route 276 (Cross Keys Road). Westbound lane shoulder closure. Occasional single lane traffic with flagger traffic control. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 257 (Mason Street, Dayton) – Entrance construction from Route 1204 (Ashby Street) to Route 1203 (Westview Street). Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Secondary Roads
* Route 641 (Cave Hill Road) – Road work from Route 843 (Cemetery Road) to Route 991 (Jacob Burner Road). Intermittent lane closures. Flagger traffic control. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 676 (Oak Shade Road) – Directional bore. Work is from Route 276 (Cross Keys Road) to Route 674 (Duck Run Road). Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 679 (Pleasant Valley Road) – Sewer line installation from Route 689 (Spaders Church Road) to Route 898 (Pleasant Drive). Shoulder and lane closures controlled by flaggers. Blasting may occur. Work is Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 704 (Cecil Wampler Road) in conjunction with Route 679 work – At Route 679 (Pleasant Valley Road) Sewer line installation. Occasional blasting may occur. Shoulder closure. One lane traffic controlled by flaggers. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 704 (Cecil Wampler Road) – Sewer line work from Route 679 (Pleasant Valley Road) to Route 705 (Cottontail Trail). Shoulder closure, single lane traffic, Weekdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* (NEW) Route 743 (Honey Run Road) – Box culvert replacement work. Road closed with detour set up. Estimated time of work is Oct. 22 to Nov. 15. Work is from Route 739 (Witmer Lane) to Route 739 (Koogler Road).
* Route 793 – Bridge over I-81 at Route 983. Bridge deck maintenance, single lane closure, flagger traffic control.
* Route 793 – Bridge over I-81. Bridge painting. Shoulder and lane closures. Sunday to Saturday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Route 796 – Bridge over I-81 at Route 982. Bridge deck maintenance, single lane closure, flagger traffic control.
* (NEW) Route 796 – Bridge over I-81. Bridge painting. Shoulder and lane closures. Sunday to Saturday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* (NEW) Route 820 (Bergton Road) – Debris removal from Route 259 (Brocks Gap Road) and Route 826 (Criders Road). Single lane traffic, flagger traffic control. Work is Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Route 1304 (Sunset Drive) Town of Dayton – Sewer line installation between Route 257 (Mason Street) and 1209 (Thompson Street). Road closed. Traffic controlled by flaggers, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 1310 (Mt. Crawford Avenue) – Road reconstruction from Liberty Avenue to Route 42 (North Main Street). Work is Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoulder closure and intermittent lane closure with flagging operation.
* Route 1415 (Early Drive) – Waterline installation, occasional single lane traffic with flagger traffic control from Route 42 (Harpine Highway) to Route 1421 (Springbrook Road), Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

* Various locations – Sign repair. Shoulder closures, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
I-81
* Mile marker 185 to 189, southbound – Guardrail and shoulder work. Periodic single lane closures. Monday to Friday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Mile marker 200 southbound – Pavement work. Shoulder closures, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday.
* Various locations – Sign repair. Shoulder closures, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Primary Roads
* (NEW) Route 11, northbound – Reconditioning shoulders, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flagger traffic control.
* Route 130 – Bridge construction at Route 501 in Glasgow. Periodic single lane traffic with flagger traffic control, Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon. Completion is in September 13, 2010.
* Various roads – Mowing.
Secondary Roads
* Route 759 (Hopper Creek) – Bridge replacement project. Temporary detour in place. Signs posted. Work is Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* Various roads – Brush cutting and grading dirt roads, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flagger traffic control.
