virginia basketballUVA women’s basketball head coach Joanne Boyle announced this week that Felicia Aiyeotan has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Cavaliers beginning with the 2016-17 season.

Aiyeotan is a 6-9 center and a native of Lagos, Nigeria who played her senior season at Blair Academy in New Jersey, averaging 14.0 points per game. As a junior, Aiyeotan helped Nuemann Goretti High in Philadelphia achieve a 30-0 record and a No. 1 national ranking. Aiyeotan is ranked No. 87 overall, No. 14 at her position by Prospect Nation and No. 15 among all 2016-17 centers by ESPN HoopGurlz.

“I am so thrilled to welcome Felicia to our Wahoo family,” said Boyle. “At 6’9”, Felicia is a very unique player who can impact the game in a variety of ways. Her presence on defense, including her shot blocking ability, will be immediately noticeable when she steps on the floor. Felicia has improved tremendously each year since playing in the States and has a strong determination and desire to get better. She has a fun-loving and positive personality and will fit in exceptionally well with our team.”

Aiyeotan joins a recruiting class that includes a pair of top-30-ranked recruits, New Jersey Gatorade State Player of the Year Jocelyn Willoughby and New York Gatorade State Player of the Year and Miss New York Basketball Dominique Touissant (Staten Island, N.Y.), as well as Lisa Jablonowski (Luxembourg), a standout veteran of U16 and U18 European Championships.
