In 2004 Waynesboro-East Augusta United Way and Staunton-West Augusta United Way merged to become United Way of Greater Augusta.
Several members of the community had a vision on how working together these United Ways could have a significant impact in the community leveraging regional shared resources.
For the tenth anniversary, the Founding Board members have reunited and organized to lead this year’s United Way 10th Anniversary Campaign. Lead by the Mary Louise Leake (Waynesboro) and assisted by Nat Burress (Staunton) the 2004 Board President and Vice President, the hope to secure a minimum $50.00 from 50 individuals, or more, who have not contributed to United Way in several years.
The Founding Board Members are Dave Barker (deceased), Michele Bartley, Chuck Bishop, Martha Bruin-Degen., Nathaniel Burress, Debra Callison, Wayne Davis, Gary Foster, Suzanne Meeks, Vermell Grant, Robert Harris, Mark Henderson, Gerald Hershey, William Jones, Lynn Lawson, Mary Louise Leake, Melody Long, David Madigan, Ronnie Martin, Mary McDermott, Fred Morgan, Mike O’Donnell, Jim Perkins, Ann Phillips, Bart Rowe (deceased), Alison Schultz, Ty Scopel, Lynn Sisson, Linda Slough, Minnie Stevenson, Robert Sullivan, Teri Sumey, Hugh Westfall, Frank Williams, Phil Winter and Nick Zawhorodny.
The members listed about represent an equitable representation of the community. These members will launch their vision at the United Way’s Campaign kick off on August 21, 2014 at 8:30 am at the United Way Office, 24 Idlewood Rd, Staunton.
Part of this group’s campaign effort is to secure $50.00 from 50 individuals, or more, who have not contributed to United Way in several years.
Community members are invited and encouraged to contact one of these individuals and make a contribution. This year’s Campaign goal is $1,000,000. These founding members are excited to be part of this exciting campaign.
