Two ODU football games featured on FOX TV this fall

odu logoTwo Old Dominion University home football games will be nationally televised this fall as part of Conference USA’s preliminary television package announced today.

ODU will host Western Kentucky on Oct. 31 and UTEP on Nov. 14, on the FOX network. Game times will be announced closer to the playing dates.  In addition, ODU announced today that the Oct. 17 contest with Charlotte has been designated as Homecoming, while the Monarchs final home game on Nov. 28 vs. Florida Atlantic will serve as the annual Oyster Bowl contest.

“We are thrilled to have two games televised by Fox from Foreman Field at SB Ballard Stadium this fall. With our 41 consecutive home sellouts, we know our fans will be ready to show TV audiences that Ballard Stadium is a great venue for these games,” says ODU head football coach Bobby Wilder.

Last year’s WKU game was a track meet, which the Hilltoppers won 66-51 in Bowling Green.  WKU went on to finish 8-5, handing C-USA champion Marshall their only loss of the season. WKU won the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl over Central Michigan, 49-48.

UTEP comes to Norfolk after a 7-6 season in 2014, defeating ODU 42-35 last year in El Paso in the first meeting between the schools. The Miners played in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, falling to Utah State.

The current C-USA schedule features nearly 60 games aired nationally or regionally by the league’s TV partners, FOX and the CBS Sports Network. Additional games aired by the American Sports Network (ASN) will be announced later in the summer. Season tickets are available for the 2015 season, which includes seven home dates. The Monarchs posted a 6-6 record last year in their first season as an FBS and C-USA member, and were bowl eligible. The home slate features Norfolk State on Sept. 12, ACC power N.C. State on Sept. 19, Appalachian State on Sept. 26 and four C-USA games.
