The Virginia athletics department will present two new 30-minute installments of the popular “Building of a Program” television show the weeks of Aug. 20 and Aug. 27 on Comcast SportsNet.

The first episode of the 2012 edition of the “Building of a Program” will premier at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20 and features an inside look at the UVa football program as the Cavaliers prepare for the upcoming season.  The second episode will debut on Monday, Aug. 27 at 9 p.m.

“As coach Mike London and the staff enter their third season, we thought it would be important to continue to highlight their efforts to build the program,” Virginia Executive Associate Athletics Director Jon Oliver said. “These episodes will provide our fans the opportunity to learn about the team’s development since the end of last season and get to know our players and coaches as kickoff of a new season approaches.”

In addition to behind-the-scenes access to the Cavalier team that is a trademark of the show, the episodes will include segments on UVa’s fall football camp, the offseason strength and conditioning program, construction of the new indoor practice facility and features on student-athletes, coaches and support personnel.

The Virginia athletics department debuted “The Building of the Program” in 2010 in support of London and the team’s preparation leading up to his first season as the Cavaliers’ head coach. A total of 18 episodes aired on regional cable television and were available online at VirginiaSportsTV.com.  “The Building of the Program – The Next Step” aired last season the week before the home opener against William & Mary.
