Tom Garrett comments on FBI, Hillary Clinton, emails

tom garrettFifth District GOP nominee Tom Garrett offered perspective on FBI Director James Comey’s press conference outlining the details of the completed investigation of Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of sensitive and classified material.

“I think we can agree that ‘extremely careless’ is not a character trait that we want in our Commander in Chief,” said Garrett, a former Louisa County Commonwealth’s Attorney. “The irony is that democrats applaud Comey in his finding that reckless behavior does not warrant prosecution and ignore the very same FBI Director who has told us that there is no way Americans can remain safe if Syrian immigrants, whom we fund to the tune of millions of dollars, continue to come over without being appropriately vetted.

“Based on the information I have, I might reach a different conclusion than FBI Director Comey, but I will at least acknowledge his findings. I would call upon my opponent, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton to also acknowledge Director Comey’s findings as it relates to the safety of bringing tens of thousands of young men from nations with ongoing Islamic conflicts to our nation. Simply put, if Director Comey is right today, how can we discount what he said yesterday?

“This ‘extreme carelessness’ is only the latest example from a Presidential candidate whose mishaps include lying to the American public about the nature of the Benghazi attack, covering for her husband’s illicit behavior, having been previously investigated by the FBI for unethical financial dealings, and laughing off the deaths of four brave Americans by saying, ‘what difference at this point does it make?”
