It’s time for Medicare Open Enrollment

  • Do you know if your Medicare Part D drug plan is giving you the best pricing on your medications?
  • How much can you save by switching Part D or Medicare Advantage plans?

Get answers to these questions during Medicare’s annual Open Enrollment period Oct. 15-Dec. 7 at the Staunton Senior Center. Trained and certified insurance counselors are available at SSC to give you personalized information about your medication costs and which Part D plan is best for you in 2014.

They can also provide information about co-pays and other out-of-pocket costs for the 2014 Medicare Advantage plans. Insurance counselors are part of the Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) and do not sell insurance or endorse any company.

The service is free of charge but the program has experienced a significant funding cut. Donations are gratefully accepted to keep the program going and are tax-deductible.

Call 540-949-7141 to schedule a Medicare Open Enrollment appointment.

That said, it’s free to read, but it still costs us money to produce. The site is updated several times a day, every day, 365 days a year, 366 days on the leap year.

(Stuff still happens on Christmas Day, is what we’re saying there.)

AFP does well in drawing advertisers, but who couldn’t use an additional source of revenue?

From time to time, readers ask us how they can support us, and we usually say, keep reading.
