Tim Kaine continues to press for authorization on military action against ISIS

tim kaine-newOn the eve of the 9-month anniversary of U.S operations against ISIS, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, will call on his colleagues to return to a matter that is critical to U.S. national security and the servicemembers currently serving in Operation Inherent Resolve – the U.S. mission against ISIS.

Since June 2014, Kaine has been a leading voice urging the Obama administration to seek a specific authorization for U.S. military action against ISIS while pressing his Congressional colleagues to debate and vote on the mission – one he believes goes well beyond the intent of existing authorizations from 2001 and 2002.

Kaine will lay out his view of why it’s immoral to keep asking U.S. servicemembers, after more than a decade at war in Iraq & Afghanistan, to risk their lives without a meaningful debate and vote on the scope and duration of this mission.
