Ticket sales begin for 2014 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game
Ticket sales for the 2014 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game will begin this Friday and Saturday.
This year’s game is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, Dec. 6, at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium. A presale for those customers who have purchased tickets to the game in previous years through the Charlotte Sports Foundation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday (July 18) and will end Saturday morning (July 19) at 8 a.m. For more information on this presale opportunity, previous customers should contact the Charlotte Sports Foundation Ticket Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the Ticketmaster and ACC websites, tickets will also be available through each ACC member institution’s athletic ticket office, locally through the Charlotte Sports Foundation and at the Bank of America Stadium Ticket Office during normal business hours.
Ticket prices range from $25 to $50 for upper level seating, from $55 to $110 for lower level seating, and at $160 and $195 for club seating. Club seating is exclusively available through ticket packages offered by the Charlotte Sports Foundation, or – for those fans wanting a ticket only if their team qualifies for the game – through any ACC member institution’s athletic ticket office.
The 10th annual Dr Pepper Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship Game is set for a primetime kickoff of 7:45 or 8 p.m. on Dec. 6, and will be televised nationally by ESPN or ABC. Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and the Belk Bowl, will be the site of the Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game for the fifth straight year and is set to play host to the game through 2019.
The four previous Dr Pepper ACC Championship Games held in Charlotte have been extremely successful from a fan experience and attendance standpoint, with an average attendance of nearly 70,000 per year (69,632). That includes sellout crowds in both 2010 and 2011, and a Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game record crowd of 73,675 in 2011. Over the last four years, the ACC ranks second among all conferences in total attendance at its football championship games.
The winner of the 2014 Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game will earn the league’s bid to play in the orange bowl on New Year’s Eve, if that team is not selected for the four-team College Football Playoff.
The ACC’s 14 football members enter this fall looking to build upon the momentum of a record-setting 2013 season that produced a national champion and an orange bowl winner. A record 11 ACC teams earned bowl bids and posted winning seasons, while conference student-athletes and coaches claimed the heisman trophy and nine other major awards.
“The anticipation for the start of the ACC football season is as high as any that I can remember, and we are all looking forward to seeing which of our two teams will be facing off come December 6,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “We are appreciative to the City of Charlotte for supporting and helping to make this a premier event, and we anticipate this year being the best yet.”
“We’re excited to once again be the host city for the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game,” said Will Webb, Executive Director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. “ACC Football is at an all-time high and we anxiously await watching the regular-season unfold to see who will be playing on December 6th in Bank of America Stadium for the ACC Title.”
