Three Guys with Notes to headline fundraising event

Three Guys with Notes, a musical outreach program based in Staunton, was recently selected to be one of 100 stories featured in a year-long national media project called Bus 52.  The five-person multi-national Bus 52 team is traversing the country in a converted school bus collecting and sharing inspirational tales from “America’s roots of community, innovation and improvement.”

Staunton was one of the first stops on the 48-state trek. The group filmed Three Guys with Notes conducting their unique interactive program at the Staunton Senior Center in mid-January.  Also on hand was a second grade class from a local school.  A video, photos and an article about the Three Guys with Notes Outreach program is featured on the Bus 52 website and social networks.

Three Guys with Notes is a trio of teaching artists that uses music to serve children, teenagers, adults and seniors, no matter what their physical or emotional condition(s).  Using drums, rhythm instruments, didgeridoo and the Native American Flute, they endeavor to help people find new means of self-expression.  In addition to the Staunton Senior Center, they have presented the program for groups at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, Opportunity Village, Raw Learning and Staunton Parks and Recreation, as well as at local music venues.

Three Guys with Notes will be offering a special presentation of their outreach program on Tuesday, March 6 at Mockingbird Roots Music Hall starting at 7pm.  This is an all ages, interactive show. Suggested donation at the door is $10, and there will be a variety of valuable silent auction items and more planned for the evening. Reservations for dinner are encouraged by calling Mockingbird at 540.213.8777.  Doors open at 5pm.

Monies raised during the event will go towards expanding the group’s outreach project.  Three Guys with Notes is a community program in partnership with the Staunton Creative Community Fund, a non-profit organization that supports and funds local entrepreneurs in the Shenandoah Valley.  Tax deductible donations may be made to the Staunton Creative Community Fund designated for the Three Guys with Notes Outreach.
