terry mcauliffe2Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe has agreed to a schedule of five debates across the Commonwealth of Virginia after he was certified this week as the Democratic Party nominee.

“I am pleased to accept these debates across the Commonwealth in order to share my ideas on job creation and economic development with voters,” said McAuliffe. “I look forward to a discussion about how we can make Virginia the best for business through workforce development, a modern transportation system and 21st Century jobs.”

The five debates are:

·      Virginia Tech/WSLS-10 Roanoke TV (Date TBD)

·      Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce/NBC-4 Washington TV (September 25)

·      Virginia Bar Association (July 20)

·      League of Women Voters, Virginia/American Association of Retired Persons, Virginia/Public Broadcasting (Date TBD, Broadcast Statewide)

·      Radio One/Clovia Lawrence (Date TBD)

“Every Virginian should have the opportunity to hear from the candidates for Governor and these debates will continue a strong Virginia tradition,” said McAuliffe Senior Advisor Ellen Qualls. “We hope Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli agrees to these debates, which are a critical way for voters to determine who will best move Virginia forward on critical issues like transportation, education and economic development.”

Over the past three months, McAuliffe has conducted 31 open-press public events in every corner of the Commonwealth. He has particularly focused on workforce development education, transportation, and the diversification of Virginia’s economy.  Last week, McAuliffe turned in over 35,000 signatures that secured his place as the Democratic nominee.
