Several Staunton Senior Center members and the Program Director attended and came back with some information that inspired those involved in the SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) exercise program.

Chick-fil-A & McDonald’s donate to ERSC

Chick-fil-A of Harrisonburg & McDonald’s of Elkton donated 140 FREE item coupons to ERSC. Forty coupons were shared with Dawn Shull, MOW Volunteer Coordinator for volunteer incentives. The remaining items were used for Volunteer Appreciation, SAIL Exercise Program Incentives & special events at ERSC.

East Rockingham Senior Center Started SAIL Program

On May 28, 15 members and staff of East Rockingham Senior Center enjoyed the first Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) class.


SAIL Successful at Staunton Senior Center

So far twenty Staunton Senior Center members have taken part in the new SAIL exercise program. Stay Active & Independent for Life is being offered twice a week at the Center, on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:30 a.m.


Staunton Senior Center Local Council Met Jan. 30

Staunton Senior Center’s Local Council met to discuss a variety of topics. Chairman Michael Thompson reported to members about his attendance at the VPAS advisory committee meeting earlier in the week.

Eighteen members at Staunton Senior Center have been assessed for the new SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) exercise program which is set to begin on Tuesday, February 4 at 9:30 a.m.

SAILing into the New Year at Staunton Senior Center

Last week several VPAS employees and one intern attended the leadership training for SAIL, which stands for Stay Active & Independent for Life. This exercise program is actually a fall prevention program, but it is not billed as such since seniors sometimes tend to avoid “fall prevention programs” (I’m not old, I don’t fall).
