ODU falls short in NIT Semifinals against Stanford, 67-60

Trailing by as many as 21 points, top seeded ODU rallied in the second half to take a two point lead but eventually fell short in a 67-60 loss to Stanford in an NIT semifinal game at Madison Square Garden. The Monarchs finished the season at 27-8.

Trey Freeman’s (Virginia Beach, VA.) 30-footer as time ran out gave ODU (27-7) a 72-69 victory over Murray State in the National Invitation Tournament quarterfinals before a crowd of 8,161 in the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Jonathan Arledge, Trey Freeman and Ambrose Mosley combined for 51 points to lead the No. 1 seeded Monarchs of Old Dominion (25-7) to a 65-56 NIT opening round victory over Charleston Southern Wednesday night.

A bad-hop RBI double with two outs in the eighth inning broke a 6-6 tie and sent the Old Dominion Monarchs over the VMI Keydets, 7-6, in non-conference baseball action Wednesday in Norfolk, Va.
