Good effort, expected result: UVA football remains in stasis

If winning six games was what UVA football coach Mike London needs to do to keep his job, he’s a loss away from the moving vans backing up to his office in Bryant Hall.

#HokieNation: Welcome to our world!

This isn’t how it ends, #HokieNation, with a sea of empty seats in the fourth quarter at a home game, being relegated to mock-cheering a touchdown with a buck-thirty to go to avoid being shut out. Oh, no. Not the end, not anywhere close. This is just the beginning of the end.

UVA football fans: About to jump ship?

I had a conversation with a fellow UVA football fan last week that went something like this: Mike London is a good coach, a great recruiter, and he’s the guy who can get Virginia football back to where it was under George Welsh.

Fire up the message boards: And fire Mike London?

Fire Mike London, sure. Nuke the program, and start over. Get a new coach in to no doubt clean house to get his guys in, which will take at least four years to get Virginia football back on the road to respectability.

Chris Graham: Mike London stocks the cupboard for his successor

Apologists for embattled UVa. football coach Mike London begin their defense of the Cavs’ awful 2-10 2013 season by pointing out how young the team was this year – with just seven seniors seeing action. Chris Graham: How the Mike London era could come to an end this weekend

Mike London could be coaching his final game at the University of Virginia this weekend. Yes, I get it, it’s not likely. UVa. does not make in-season changes the way you’d expect from a Southern Cal, which abruptly fired football coach Lane Kiffin earlier this season after a middling 3-2 start.

Chris Graham: #RehireAlGroh

I never thought I’d pine for the days of Al Groh, who returned UVa. football to the mediocrity that George Welsh had inherited. But mediocrity would be a step up from what Mike London has done to the program.
