Vanderbilt takes Game 1 in College World Series: UVA falls, 5-1

A Will Toffey two-out, two-run double broke a scoreless tie in the sixth, and Vanderbilt rode a solid start from first-round 2015 MLB Draft pick Carson Fulmer to a 5-1 win over Virginia in Game 1 of the College World Series Championship Series Monday night in Omaha.


Late homer lifts Vandy over UVA, 3-2, in College World Series title game

John Norwood hit a tiebreaking solo homer off UVA closer Nick Howard in the top of the eighth, Vandy closer Adam Ravenelle got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the eighth, and then Ravenelle closed the ninth with a pair of strikeouts, to give Vanderbilt a 3-2 win over the ‘Hoos that clinched the 2014 College World Series championship.


College World Series: Pitching matchups in UVA-Vandy CWS Finals

UVA coach Brian O’Connor has his pitching set up for the 2014 College World Series Finals pretty much exactly how he would have wanted it, at least for Games 1 and 2. Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin isn’t in that position.
