saaclogoThe Staunton Augusta Art Center’s current exhibit, Meditations on Nature, watercolors by Mary Margaret Pipkin, includes very large (4 ½” x 6’), highly detailed pieces that trick the viewer’s eye into believing the renditions of Nature’s flora are actually photographs (see attached “Peonies”).

Months are required to execute each piece.  Gallery visitors will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the artist’s processes during a pilot program, “Supper with the Artist,” Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6pm in the Staunton Augusta Art Center galleries.

The supper will be catered by Eric Stamer.  The cost for the event is $20 and reservations are required by February 6 by calling the Art Center at 540.885.2028.  The galleries are located in the R. R. Smith Center for History and Art, 20 S. New Street, in historic Downtown Staunton.

There is no admission charge to visit the galleries during routine hours: 10am-5pm M-F, 10am-4pm Sa, and 1-4pm Su.  The exhibit will be up through Sunday, February 24.  For more information, visit www.saartcenter.org or call 540.885.2028.
