Celebrating National Poetry Month in April! Come by and check our daily Poem in the Window!

Thurs, Apr 12th, 4:00 PM, “BOOK Tea” – Share Tea & Treats while sharing Book Picks & Pans!

We’re pulling out the china for teatime at Stone Soup – join us for a little English Tea & Stone Soup homemade sweets. Pair that with YOU (wonderful readers) & it’s sure to be a literary BOOK Tea experience! Bring at least 2 book picks or pans (we know some of you will bring more) that you want to share with your fellow readers. Bring your pencils – There will be some you’ll want to write down to add to your reading list!  Tea & sweets service – $8/Person. Space Limited. Reservations Required

 

Friday, Apr 13th, 6:00 PM, Live Music & Dining – Steven Gellman, The Hidden Poet

Steven Gellman is a singer/songwriter from Germantown, MD. His original music spans five independent releases and has garnered local and national praise.  Billboard Magazine hails Gellman’s music as “intensely sensitive and impressively intelligent at the same time.” Gellman has performed at acclaimed venues such as the Birchmere and Club Passim and has opened for the likes of Dar Williams, Cheryl Wheeler and others.

Friday, Apr 20th, 6:00 PM, Live Music & Dining – Red Drum Ramblers, High- Spirited Old Time

One of Stone Soup’s favorite duos returns.  Jace Goodling and Tim Scruby promise an evening of  “high energy” old-time fiddle and banjo.  Noted for their musical inventiveness and humorous repartee, The Red Drum Ramblers defy the listener to keep feet from moving, fingers from snapping, and hands from clapping.  Sometimes these Ramblers invite listeners to join them in a “sing-a-long.”

Mon, Apr 23rd, 5:30 PM, “Of Vine & Verse” – Wine Tasting & Poetry Sharing

Sit back sipping and listen to poetry with Stone Soup’s “Of Vine & Verse”! A very informal and casual gathering of friendly folks who love poetry (or want to). Bring a favorite poem to share or just come to enjoy others’ favorites.

 

Tues, Apr 24th, 7:00 PM, “A Poet Pens Fiction” Book Discussion of  “The Enormous Room” by e e cummings

As part of April’s National Poetry Month celebration, Join us for ” A Poet Pens Fiction” discussion of E. E. Cummings first published book, a fictionalized account of his WWI French captivity, “The Enormous Room”.  In a roundup review of World War I novels in 1926, F. Scott Fitzgerald singled it out: “Of all the work by young men who have sprung up since 1920 one book survives – The Enormous Room by E. E. Cummings. Those few who cause books to live have not been able to endure the thought of its immortality.

Area dulcimer players will join Dulcimer Dinah for an evening of strumming, humming, picking, and plucking with the “user-friendly” Appalachian dulcimer.
