Staunton working to repair Gypsy Hill Park duck pond

staunton virginiaThe City of Staunton is working this morning to increase the water level in Gypsy Hill Park’s duck pond. Currently, the pond is mostly drained from an unidentified leak.

“We first noticed that the pond’s water level had dropped about 12 inches yesterday,” said Chris Tuttle, director of Staunton Parks and Recreation. “We shut off the water supply overnight to see how far the water level would drop and to determine the severity of the leak.”

The City is refilling the pond with water today to increase the water level for holiday weekend events, scheduled for Sunday and Monday in the park.

After Fourth of July festivities have concluded, the pond’s water supply will be turned off so that the origin of the leak can be identified and repaired.
