The following is a list of highway work that might affect traffic in the Staunton VDOT transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties: Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. Also, when traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

(UPDATE) Mile marker 53.3 to 55.3, eastbound and westbound. Beginning Friday afternoon, October 10, eastbound traffic will detour across the median to the westbound side of the interstate. Both directions of traffic will use westbound Maury River bridge for about a year while the eastbound bridge undergoes rehabilitation. Speed limit is 55 miles per hour.

Additional lane shift and closure of center turn lane from the south end of the bridge to just past 17th Street and closure of 18thStreet to through traffic.
