Source and Style in Bach’s Suites
In this informal lecture-recital, harpsichordist Carsten Schmidt and music historian Jason Stell discuss the history and development of the suite, a grouping of dances that helped define Baroque music, especially Bach’s work.
The talk is part of Schmidt’s on-going Bach Project, which offers Bach’s entire keyboard works in solo harpsichord recitals over about seven years. Seniors $18, Students $8, ages 16 and under entirely free. Tickets at Bookworks (101 W. Beverley Street, Staunton), online at stauntonmusicfestival.com, by phone at 800-838-3006, and at the door.
