Sixth District Democratic congressional candidates forum set for May 22

lawThe Rockbridge County and Lexington City Democratic Committees have collaborated to host a Sixth District Democratic Primary Candidate Forum on Tuesday evening, May 22nd on the Mezzanine Level of the Virginia Horse Center.

All four Democratic primary candidates in the race – Peter Volosin, Charlotte Moore, Jennifer Lewis, and Sergio Coppola – have confirmed their participation. While all have participated in similar events in recent weeks, this is the first to occur after the Sixth District GOP convention in Harrisonburg on May 19th, at which the Republican candidate will be nominated.

Michelle Watkins, Chair of the Rockbridge County Democratic Committee will moderate. Questions will not be provided to the candidates in advance and will be composed by the Executive Committees of the Rockbridge County and Lexington City Democratic Committees. Attendees may also submit questions in writing during the event, to be posed as time permits.

Free and open to the public and media, the candidate forum will run from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. An optional cash bar and networking period is scheduled from 5:15-6:30 p.m. A buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. to those who RSVP in advance for $20 per person, payable by check or cash at the door. As part of their community outreach initiative, any area high school senior or college student who wishes to attend will not be charged for the buffet dinner, but an RSVP is required.

The Virginia Horse Center is located at 487 Maury River Road in Lexington. RSVPs for the buffet dinner must be made in advance by May 18th via email to [email protected].
