Sgt. Tony Shifflett of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office recently completed the Advanced Police Sniper School in New Canton and finished the course as the “Top Shot” among the 15 attendees.

Shifflett is a 15-year veteran of the sheriff’s office.

The sniper school was hosted by Complete Tactical.

Investigator George Cox, a 14-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, recently graduated from the 73rd session of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy in Richmond. The academy offers training in skills including crime-scene photography, crime-scene sketching, fingerprint processing and trace-evidence investigation.
