karen.jpgLast week it was The Washington Post endorsing Republican Jill Holtzman Vogel. This week it is The Loudoun Times-Mirror, The Clark Times-Courier and The Fauquier Times-Democrat endorsing Democrat Karen Schultz.
The papers in an endorsement editorial published this week publicly backed Schultz in the race for the 27th Senate District seat held by Republican Russ Potts, who announced his retirement from the Senate earlier this year.
The editorial said that Schultz is “better suited to get things done in a bipartisan fashion” and praised her support of smart-growth policies, “which would help with overcrowding in schools, traffic jams and the environment.”
Last week’s endorsement of Vogel in the Post said of the GOP nominee, “Articulate, fast on her feet and pragmatic, she is the sort of moderate Republican that has become scarce in Richmond.”
“Her opponent, Democrat Karen Schultz, is a respected, hardworking educator, school board member and community leader but lacks Mrs. Vogel’s spark and command of state issues,” the Post editorial read.
