staunton augusta art centerIn celebration of Youth Art Month and in conjunction with the Annual Juried Youth Art Show, the Staunton Augusta Art Center is collaborating with Mary Baldwin College to present this special set of art classes.  With the encouraging guidance of MBC art students, children will learn art theory and develop art skills while taking an imaginative  journey to four very special American destinations  Sign up for one class or all four.

Crazy Horse Memorial/Sculpture Making, March 5
Sculptures can be made out of nearly any material, including the side of a mountain! The Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota honors North American Indians. Create your own clay sculpture of someone who inspires you.

Arches National Park/Chalk Pastel Landscapes, March 12
Think Arches National Park’s red arch structures against a clear blue sky. Create bold landscapes by using a variety of chalk pastel techniques.

The Statue of Liberty/Collage, March 19
The Statue of Liberty and her diverse surroundings make for a very full picture. Create your own collage of buildings, statues, rivers, boats, islands, or trees.

Golden Gate Bridge/Focal Point, March 26
Have you ever wondered why the road seems to disappear as it gets further away or why some pictures stand out more than others? Learn how to give your drawings a clear center point while exploring the world’s longest suspension bridge!
