The 90 minute performance starting at 7:30pm. The performance will feature the River City Radio Hour regulars, the Boogie Kings: Richard Adams, J. T. Fauber, and the keyboard genius William Hayes and comedian marsha howard.
The River City Players will also continue to bring their own brand of radio drama with The Radio Hour Foley Team. Joining the regulars for the Friday performance will be SaraJane McDonald, Lawton Tufts and Lorie Strother, the Dreaded Blues Lady.
SaraJane McDonald is a passionate, young country music singer/songwriter from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Currently recording her debut project, “The Girl With the Yellow Guitar,” SaraJane’s original songs are a reflection of her humble, hardworking family values which are a direct result of her every day, real life experiences on the McDonald’s bustling turkey and beef farm. In late 2013, SaraJane was recruited as the opening act for the 2014 Stayin’ Country Concert Tour and will open for an assortment of country music superstars such as: John Anderson, Aaron Tippin, Merle Haggard, John Michael Montgomery, Chad Brock, Darryl Worley, Collin Raye and Morgan Frazier; just to name a few. SaraJane made her debut on the River City Radio Hour in May of 2013, and she is very excited to have been invited back!
Lawton Tufts is an attorney with the Public Defender’s Office in Charlottesville. When he is not in the courtroom, you can find Lawton performing at small venues throughout the Valley and busking with his guitar and ukulele out on the streets. Lawton charms audiences with unique takes on songs from every genre and every decade.
Lorie Strother, the Dreaded Blues Lady, will join the boogie kings once again in some soulful renderings of blues as only she can do. Strother is also the host of WTA’s Gateway monthly Talent Night that brings new performers to the attention of Valley audiences. She will host the finale of the Talent Nights with the eight finalists on Saturday, June 7, 2014.
Marsha Howard, Waynesboro’s First Lady of Laughter, has been collecting and telling her signature jokes at the Radio Hour since its beginning. “Many people stop me and offer me a joke for the Radio Hour.” she says. “Sadly, many are not family-friendly, and since we want to appeal to all ages, I have to insure that my comedy is appropriate for children as well as adults.”
Since September 2013, the River City Radio Hour has had a delayed broadcast on wsva (550 am) on the last Sunday of the month at 9 am.

Remaining tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the performances for $12. Doors will open at 7:00 pm. The show will last approximately 90 minutes with intermission. WTA’s Gateway is located at 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro.
