Ryback: The one-time next Goldberg talks about rise and fall

rybackRemember when Ryback was The Next Big Thing, the next Goldberg, challenging john cena for the WWE title in the main event at pay-per-views?

Now mired in a forgettable tag team, it’s hard to believe that Ryback was thisclose to being on top of the wrestling world less than two years ago.

“Before the Yes Movement, there was the Feed Me More movement. I took the WWE by storm,” Ryback said in an interview with the Miami Herald.

How did it all go away? Ryback looks back at the move to turn him heel

“We made the switch and went an opposite way and took it all away. Not that I necessarily agreed with it at the time, but I feel it was a good move,” Ryback said.

Interesting how he ended that there. “I feel it was a good move.” Sounds like something that his PR handler gave him as a talking point, because it can’t be true that he feels going from main-eventing a pay-per-view to working the pre-show in a tag team to be a good move.

But Ryback has nothing but good things to say about his partner in RybAxel, Curtis Axel.

Curtis Axel is a great, amazing human being. Working with him is the most fun I’ve had in wrestling in some time,” Ryback said. “Me and Curtis go back to developmental together. I’m very happy we are getting a chance to mesh and gel on TV and come together as RybAxel.”
