Rock ‘n’ Roll Remembered at Court Square Theater Feb. 9

arts council of the valleyVMRC, in conjunction with Arts Council of the Valley, is bringing Rock ‘n’ Roll Remembered to Court Square Theater Saturday, Feb 9.

The 7 pm tribute show, featuring Little Walter & the Convictions, marks the 60th anniversary of “the day the music died,” when rock stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson were killed in a plane crash Feb. 3, 1959.

“We are excited to partner with the Arts Council of the Valley to bring this show to Court Square Theater at this significant anniversary in rock ‘n’ roll history,” said Maureen Pearson, director of public relations and outreach for VMRC. “Music is associated with special moments and events in our lives and creates our strongest memories. We hope this event is one the audience will remember for years to come.”

Since they hit the scene in the summer of 2011, Little Walter & the Convictions have been winning over local fans and critics alike with their live club renditions of the greatest hits of the ’60s rock music scene. From the Animals and the Beatles to the Yardbirds and the Zombies, the music of the 60s represents for many music fans the zenith of live rock ’n’ roll, with its infectious garage-band beat and mod melodies.

Based in Staunton, the band features Lewis Bagwell (lead vocalist), Joe Bandish (bass and vocals), Mike Ritchie (keyboards), Rusty Whitesell (drums and vocals), and John Whitfield (guitar and vocals).

Little Walter & the Convictions will perform ​Rock ‘n’ Roll Remembered​ at Court Square Theater Saturday, Feb. 9. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the show beginning at 7:00 PM.
