Richmond Flying Squirrels announce upgrades to Diamond

richmond-squirrelsThe Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, announced a variety of upgrades to The Diamond in order enhance fan experience for the 2016 season.

A brand new party deck, containing a bar and rail top seating, will be installed down the right field line. This elevated gathering place will feature high top tables with a clear view of the field and will be open to all fans (21 & older) at no additional cost throughout the course of each game.

In addition to the new area, the Squirrels are upgrading concourse and gate lighting for better visibility , improving the Kids Zone with more fun and games, adding electronic concessions menu boards for a more vibrant look and repainting the scoreboard.  All ticket prices will remain the same for the 2016 season.

“We continue to be committed to our fans, our sponsors and Greater Richmond as a whole to give them a product that they can be proud of,” said Flying Squirrels President & Managing General Partner Lou DiBella.

“It is in the Flying Squirrels DNA to continue to improve the Diamond, improve our operation and give back to our fans and the community,” said Flying Squirrels Chief Executive Chuck Domino. “Under no circumstances will that philosophy change.”

In addition to improving The Diamond experience, the Flying Squirrels continue their efforts year-round to impact the community. The Renovating Richmond’s Recreation program remains a top priority for the Squirrels. This program is currently underway and is designed to overhaul dilapidated baseball facilities within the city and give kids a much improved place to play.

As part of the program, eight new dugouts have been constructed and completed at four Richmond youth baseball fields as part of a 16 field renovation project within the city. The initial dugouts have been completed at the Hotchkiss & Westover park facilities with more on the way. The Squirrels have worked closely with the City of Richmond, Barton Malow, Hardesty Roofing and Liberty Roofing Center to facilitate the first phase of the project with funds being raised throughout the year through Flying Squirrels Charities.

“Our ownership and staff are committed to giving the fans something new each year to keep our relationship stimulated and fresh,” said Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney Parnell .“Our fans deserve it and we are excited about what we have planned for them in 2016.”

Other changes and additions for the 2016 season include daily promotions (listed below) at The Diamond.

  • Monday’s: Bark in the Park (dogs welcome)
  • Tuesday’s: Silver Squirrels (60 and older ticket package with free food and shirt)
  • Wednesday’s: Wine Up Wednesday (wine club and specials)
  • Thursday’s: In-Your-Face-Fireworks
  • Friday’s: Free Shirt Friday & Happy Hour
  • Saturday’s: Super Blast Saturdays (fireworks)
  • Sunday’s: Brunch & Baseball Kids Club Sunday (12:05 PM start with brunch food items)

Visit the Squirrels Nest Holiday Store at the Diamond for that special Squirrels Fan in your life. There are many great gift ideas and new gear arriving just in time for the Holidays. The Flying Squirrels operate year round at The Diamond and the team store will have extended hours through the Holiday season.

Black Friday sales will run from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM on Nov. 27 and the store will be open 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Monday through Friday and 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturdays (Nov. 28-Dec. 3).The Squirrels  will also be hosting their sixth annual Hot Stove Banquet on Jan. 21 at the Siegal Center.
