Military service is built on a foundation of trust, where each service member must trust the men and women to the left and right of them in the ranks, their military leaders, and civilian leaders from the Secretary of Defense to the president, their commander-in-chief.

During the event, five of these retired General and Flag Officers outlined the dangers to our national security of Donald J. Trump’s candidacy.

Lieutenant General John Castellaw, US Marine Corps (Ret)
“I served with the UN during the siege of Sarajevo and was chief of staff for US Central Command at the height of the war in Iraq.  I know the difference between an Ally and a threat.  Donald Trump entangles his fortune with bad men abroad; that may explain his comfort with Putin and Russia’s attempt to sabotage our elections,” said Lieutenant General John Castellaw, USMC (Ret).  “Trump is dangerous.  I trust Hillary.”

Major General Donna Barbisch, US Army (Ret)
“I’m a former director of Chemical and Biological Defense for the Army and an expert on Weapons of Mass Destruction. I recognize an existential threat when I see it – Trump is unstable and unschooled and puts us at risk,” said Major General Donna Barbisch, US Army (Ret).  “On a personal level, I see Donald Trump never has put anyone’s well being above his own enrichment.  So I do not trust Donald Trump to put my soldier-daughter’s life before his business dealings. Trump is dangerous.  I trust Hillary.”

Brigadier General Larry Gillespie, US Army (Ret)
“I began my career with 1600 hours of combat flight time in Vietnam, receiving 43 air medals and a Distinguished Flying Cross.  Anyone who has been in combat knows – experience matters.  Donald Trump has zero experience with the military, zero experience with life or death decisions, zero experience with the constitutional process,” said Brigadier General Larry Gillespie, US Army (Ret).  “From the perspective of those who fight and die at the word of a commander in chief, Trump’s lack of humility about his lack of experience sucks. Trump is dangerous.  I trust Hillary.”

Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, US Marine Corps (Ret)
“I served as Commanding General at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.  Donald Trump is a proven liar who lies about lying,” said Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, USMC (Ret). “I do not trust him with my Marines.  Trump is dangerous.  I trust Hillary.”

Rear Admiral Jamie Barnett, US Navy (Ret)
“I served with Navy Expeditionary Command comprising 40,000 sailors deployed to dangerous duty, such as disarming IED’s in Iraq.  The stakes are high in this line of work and too often I had the solemn duty of escorting fallen sailors from Dover and giving my respects to their families.  The stakes are high for this election as well,” said Rear Admiral Jamie Barnett, US Navy (Ret).  “Trump himself is a kind of unexploded ordnance – a constantly improvising-explosive device.  Can we afford to let him go off as president?  Trump is dangerous.  I trust Hillary.”

These distinguished General and Flag Officers trust the leadership, skill and experience of Hillary Clinton. They do not trust Donald Trump to make life and death decisions affecting the dedicated men and women of the United States armed forces. They are not willing to put the lives of service members at risk for a businessman with a frightening lack of knowledge of military or foreign affairs, policy or diplomacy.
