Request for qualifications Issued for Route 29 improvement projects

Contributors

road-work-headerThe Virginia Department of Transportation has advertised a Request for Qualifications from companies that may be interested in submitting bids for a design-build contract for three Route 29 (Seminole Trail) improvement projects.

The RFQ asks that interested companies, known as offerors, submit Statements of Qualifications. Those responses will be evaluated by VDOT and the information will be used to determine the three most qualified offerors. Those offerors will be invited to submit project proposals in response to VDOT’s Request for Proposals, which will be issued in the fall.

Three projects are included in the RFQ solicitation: the widening of Route 29 from Route 643 (Polo Grounds Road) to Route 1719 (Towncenter Drive), construction of Berkmar Drive Extended from Route 1438 (Hilton Heights Road) to Hollymead Town Center and the grade separation of the intersection of Route 631 (Rio Road) and Route 29. The projects will be advanced as a design-build procurement. The scope of work will be set out in the Request for Proposals, which will be issued to the short-listed offerors in October.

The three projects are part of the Route 29 Solutions recommendations that were approved by the Commonwealth Transportation Board in June. More information about the Route 29 improvement projects can be found on VDOT’s web site: www.Route29Solutions.org. The RFQ advertisement is posted on the Design-Build Request for Qualifications page on VDOT’s web site: www.virginiadot.org/business/request-for-qualifications.asp
