Redskins advancing effort to build new stadium: But where?

washington redskinsThe Washington Redskins lease on FedEx Field expires in 2027. No time like the present to go ahead and beat the rush to getting a new stadium in line.

The team has hired Bjarke Ingels Group, a Danish architecture firm that has also been contracted to build Google’s new Mountain View, Calif., headquarters, to advance new stadium plans.

Virginia and Washington, D.C., are each lobbying the team to hunker down in their respective backyards. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has pressed the ‘Skins to locate in Loudoun County to be nearer to public transportation. D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser is suggesting a new stadium on the site of RFK Stadium.
