Protect your privacy with VPN services

e-commerceThere are all sorts of reasons why we go online these days, from carrying out research and work through to enjoying entertainment, purchasing products and services, socializing with friends, and more. One thing that many of us do on a regular basis is browse a variety of website and enter personal details about ourselves online including financial and other sensitive data. It is little wonder, therefore, that many of us have become worried about our online privacy.

Our privacy is at risk in a number of ways when we go online. First off, we have the risk of cybercriminals getting their hands on our personal information and compromising our privacy. However, we also have the worry of agencies such as government agencies and companies such as our own Internet Service Providers being able to track our activities online, which is another breach of our privacy.

So, how can we get around these issues without having to give up on using then internet altogether? Well, obviously avoiding the internet would have a negative effect on the lives of most people because we are so reliant on this technology these days. This would therefore not be an option for most of us. However, this does not mean that we have to put ourselves at risk of being tracked or having our privacy breached. One of the things that you can do is to sign up with a VPN or Virtual Private Network, which will enable you to enjoy a far greater level of privacy.

The good news is that you can get an indepth list of free VPNs when you go online, which means that you can benefit from being signed up to one of these services with minimal hassle. With access to free VPNs you don’t even have to pay in order to benefit from increased privacy and a range of other benefits when you go online. All you need to do is make sure you are signed up to a standard Internet Service Provider. Some people think that a VPN is an alternative to an ISP but this is not the case. In order to use a VPN you first need to get online, so you will need your standard internet connection through your ISP.

Once you are signed up with a VPN, the way in which it works is very simple. When you go onto different websites after connecting via the VPN, then IP address that will be logged will be that of the VPN server and not your own personal IP address. So, this means that your own IP address won’t be registered against the sites you visit, which makes it impossible for your ISP to track the sites you are going on. While it will be obvious that you are online via the ISP, the sites you visit will be under the IP address of the chosen VPN server. This also means that you will be able access sites that would otherwise be unavailable to you due to your location.
